I'm a Clinical Mental Health Counselor, licensed in Maryland, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, a former military spouse of over 20 years, with a background in interdisciplinary care, specializing in an integrative therapeutic approach.
I have experience working with a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, ADHD, mood disorders, substance use, relationship difficulties, Women's issues, as well as working with the military, and LGBT populations. My goal is to offer individualized, person-centered care, to help each client meet their individual therapeutic goals.
EMDR
EMDR is a simple but efficient therapy using bilateral stimulation (BLS) ─ tapping, auditory tones, or eye movements to accelerate the brain's capacity to process, and heal a troubling memory. BLS, which occurs naturally during the dream stage of sleep, causes the two parts of the brain to work together to reintegrate the memory. Some clients experience relief, or positive effects in just a few sessions.
EMDR is effective in alleviating trauma related symptoms, whether the traumatic event occurred many years ago, or yesterday. These results are achieved with little talking, without the use of medication, and requires no “homework” between sessions.
ABOUT ME
I am a South Florida native, and due to the military, I have lived all over, but Florida will always be "home". I have an affinity for large, goofy dogs, and anything unusual. I have a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a BS in Psychology, each from NOVA Southeastern University. My professional experience has been primarily in interdisciplinary settings (hospitals, and medical clinics), which only intensified my love of all things brain related.
My love of all things neuro, and my interdisciplinary background, has given me a unique perspective to treatment, and what we can do to meet your therapeutic goals. I LOVE what I do, and I cant wait to hear from you!
